Culinary Skill –Kids performed the following activities

3. Boil Egg

4. Fry an egg

5. Cut and peel skin from Avocado

6. Flip Egg on Pan

Knife and stove safety was introduced to kids before using the equipment.

Nutrition Education – I consider Egg and Avocado superfoods, as they are full of nutrients and everyone can eat them at any time of the day.

Egg- One large egg has varying amounts of 13 essential vitamins and minerals and 6 grams of high-quality protein. Protein-packed breakfast helps sustain mental and physical health throughout the day. The yolk of the egg has most of the nutrients and nearly half of the proteins. Additionally, egg yolks carry fat-soluble nutrients like vitamin D, E, A, choline, and the antioxidants lutein/

Avocado- Avocados is a fibrous fatty fruit rich in healthy fats, which are essential for growing kids. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, such as B-vitamins, vitamin K, potassium, copper, vitamin E and vitamin C.

Teamwork – Introducing kids to new and fresh foods on a regular basis is one of the vital steps to healthy eating. Food Explorer’s Club young chef will be introduced to new food every week in the class and will be encouraged to eat one bite of it. Some kids are reluctant to try fresh foods, however, seeing their peers in the class and family members at home eating, will increase their curiosity. Kids healthy eating habits depend on family’s eating habits.

At Diets and Life, we assist parents of kids registered in Food Explorer's Club with creating healthy eating habits for life.
